Update 20.07.14


The update of the strategy battle system is finally done! 

First of all, let me say that this update took waaay longer than I expected. Almost two month for an update is far beyond my normal schedule, but it was a rather complex system with many issues, instead of the normal events that are often pretty straight forward.
The next time I'll work on such a large change, I'll try to post more in between to keep you all up-to-date, and maybe squeeze in a little update in between, to make sure people stay busy. ;)

Changes in update 20.07.14:

- Skip and hide buttons were added to the dialog box. The skip button can quickly advance you through dialogs, and the hide button will make the text box disappear until you click or press something again. In the options, you can bind a specific key for the skip and hide action as well.

The strategie battle system on the overview map was almost complele re-made. Changes include:
- New event and quest at the repaired barracks (where you met Mira), which will unlock the strategie battle system after you finished the quest.
- New overview of all squads of the vanguard forces. Every squad now has a unique leader and abilities, rather than a class based on it's weapon.
- Squads can now change equipment, and use abilities and items during combat.
- Base movement for all troops is now 3 tiles. It can be increased up to 5 tiles by equipping a horse. Every squad that uses a horse takes additional damage from enemies with lances.
- All squads heal automatically after a battle now.
- Squads gain stats when they level up.
- New research options for the army section of the laboratory.
- Enemies have a chance to drop loot now, and every map gives you loot for completing it.
- New arena function to fight up to 5 1on1 duels with one of your squads.
- All battles now start instantly, without having to wait for your vanguard to move there for several turns, and they can be repeated endlessly. Only exception is the bonus battle, which has a small chance to appear every turn and will disappear when you advanced a turn again or fought the battle once.
- Destroyable barricades were added. (You don't need to destroy them to win the battle)
- Enemy cavaliers will now walk a set path until they an enemy got in range, to simulate a patrol.
- Agility, crit chance, and evasion were added to the stats of the squads.
- Moral now affects the crit chance of your squad instead of the pure damage.
- Damage is not a fix value anymore, but has a range of +/-20%. Together with the chance of critical strikes and misses, this makes the result of the attack less predictable.
- Added a low chance each turn for a caravan to appear, which sells items for the vanguard forces.

Notes:

- Two squad leaders introduce themselves with full body CGs. The artist is already working on the other 4, but they were not done in time for the update.
- Due to the complexity of the system, I'm almost certain that some bugs still hide in it. I'd appreciate every help to find them, so please don't hesitate to report any bugs or issues you find.
I'd also be happy to hear your opinion on the balancing of the new enemies, to improve it some more.
- Currently only 6 new squad leaders can be played, but the system is made for up to 20 unique squad leaders. They'll be added step by step in future updates.
- The focus for the next few updates will be on the main character(again) and the sex scenes for the Orchel elves.

Hello, I have found 2 bugs within the new battle system: 

- The first one is when you equip the Thief class with a 'Normal War Horse', he's unable to move in battles, even though he has 4 AP. He doesn't even have movement preview. Without the horse he can move, but only has 3 AP.

- The second bug is indirectly related to the new battle system. It's about one of the new upgrades in the General Laboratory (I think), the one where you upgrade the level of training of your troops from 1-3 to 1-6. The upgrade works fine, you get the benefit of it, but it doesn't go green, like others. You can upgrade it repeatedly, doing nothing but wasting money because it keeps upgrading training levels from 1-3 to 1-6. What I mean is that the upgrade doesn't get locked. Also, when you finish upgrading it after the first time, it says "upgrade for the healing class has been completed, the laboratory is available for new research". I don't think that's meant to happen.


I have a few more questions about the Overview Map , the first one being something that I can't figure out after 100 hours of gameplay (I'm addicted, game is too good, sue me):

- How can I get steel? I wanted to make a Steel Axe but had to get it via battle, because I don't have Steel.

- How can I make/get even better weapons/armors, aside from the ones initially available to craft via the armory? 

- Where can I get better horses? Do I need to upgrade the caravan to get them? If so, how do I do it? Also, how can I get Armored Horse for the tanks?

- Is it possible to get the items needed for each squad's level 10 skill? If so, are the drop rates just low? Or can I get them in another way?


That was all, thank you for such a great game!

- Thief action bug is fixed for the next update.

- Academy research is fixed as well.

- Steel can't be produced at the moment, but I added a way to get steel for the next update.

- You can only craft the second level of weapons and armor at the armory. You will be able to get the better equipment from battles. I don't want all equipment to be craftable, since that's too easy to obtain and makes the loot of enemies and rewards for battles less valuable.

- It's the same for horses as for other equipment. It's not all easily obtainable and will require battles to get everything. I need to keep some stuff as rewards for later battles. It'd be stupid if you could get the best equipment and max level for everyone in the first 4 battles. :D

- The artifacts are not dropped by enemies, but can be found in chests.

P.S.: the game is amazing, keep it up

The first tier of weapons and armors, usable items, and the "resources" like green crystals, which you need to teach squad leaders new skills, can currently be obtained from defeated enemies.

I have a idea for next update.

do you still remember the two sisters in orchel who didn't have a home? well you can make a scenario where ryen offers them a house in CENTRAL, but in exchange, one of them has to work in the Central palace.


And one more question, is there an XXX for the squad leader?

I found a bug (or issue), when your pc connected to internet/wifi, this game is very lag, text stop in the middle.


So, in this new update, i cant raise number of my troops? Like before update?

That seems very weird, as the game doesn't require or use the internet connection.
Are you playing via the itch app perhaps?

No, the squads don't have a "troop amount" anymore. Instead they have "Health Points", which increase automatically when they level up.

Yes, it's an offline game. 

I never make promises on a release date, because I never know myself how long it'll take (and how much issues I'll encounter in the process). But the next update will be soon, as it'll be primarily for fixing the bugs of the last upload, and only add a small amount of new content. In the best case, I can finish it this weekend, but as I said, no promises.

I think the CG Room for Lind needs to be updated because it still says she will only unlock after the 4th battle on the overview map and even when I got her and saw all CG's she still wasn't unlocked in the CG Room

I have a report for you. I'm Android player.

is that black square where you put enemies special effect ?

Here's the pic when i challenge normal enemy without special effect

Player only can see enemies active effect when they choose the target


I think older version still better, player can see enemies special effect before they press attack or skills.

I hope you will remove that black square in the next update and make player can see enemies special effect just like older version.

I assume the new image for the icons is too large for the android version. I'll look into the matter. Mostlikely reducing the amount of icons in the iconset image will solve the issue.

found a HUGE error; after I did bonus battle 1 and all but my mages were defeated i went to do the repeatable level and all but my mages show up; also when I try to move him he can't move

Due to a bug (and totally not because I forgot about it), defeated squads stay defeated even when their HP is healed at the start of the round. It'll be fixed!

Thank you for this update. But please tell me if i apply this update how many things that needs to be reset? Is that number troops will be reset? Or entire country overview maps include buildings and number items and food?

Only the army is reset. Buildings on the overview map or your progress in the existing battles are not affected. 

The squads don't have troops amount anymore, and use a "normal" health number now. That's why that number was reset and changed.

One more question please, how can i get steel inside overview map? I haven't found any way to get steel, even my mines are fully upgrade. I can't donate steel to Sir Edward too :(

Obviously, you need....I think it was the.... Or was it the.... *goes into the maker and checks every building on the overview map*
...or maybe I never added something to get steel. Interesting....
I'll think of something to fix this for the next update. XD

When i look new feature there is an option my commander can ride Unicorn. Is that mean my commander still virgin? Because Unicorn hate non virgin. Only virgin can tame unicorn hehe..

Or maybe you can add Bicorn for non virgin user if you interested to make CG scene with commander in future update :D

Wow. Super glad to see that there is some progress! There is a lot of potential in just what has been done so far. It will be interesting to see what you have done this time. The strategy system certainly did need a bit of polishing. But good concept.
